Frosteez Ground Breaking Ceremony

Frosteez Ground Breaking Ceremony

On Tuesday February 4th, 2020 Chefette broke ground for the expansion of its manufacturing arm at Lears in St. Michael with a large multi-million dollar investment project to construct two large buildings and now start the formal construction phase of the project from February 2020.  The first building will be a 16,000 sq. ft. Ice Cream Manufacturing Plant with state-of-the-art equipment to locally produce ice cream at the highest international standards.  The second building will comprise of 28,000 sq. ft. for a Meat Processing Manufacturing Plant and additional Corporate Offices with a modern training facility for the group.  The two buildings are projected to be completed by Summer 2021.

Our goal is to launch our very own local brand of ice cream called Frosteez with a wide range of products for the local market & regional export market to earn foreign exchange and also to make ice cream for Chefette.  Our ice cream plant will have the capacity to make over 8 Million litres of ice cream products per year which indicates that we have the capacity to service Barbados and also export to the region as well.  We will also be moving and expanding our current Meat Processing Manufacturing Plant to Lears to expand the type of products we manufacture and be able to service Chefette’s increasing supply needs, that of the local market in restaurants, hotels & gas stations and also have the ability to export in the future while maintaining very high international quality standards.

Chefette Restaurants, the local restaurant chain in Barbados, in October 2016 opened its 50,000 sq. ft. Warehouse and 11,000 sq. ft. Cold Storage facility at Lears in St. Michael to centralise all of its dry & cold storage distribution.
